Marine Fisheries Resource Management and Conservation Workshop Held Myeik,

The "Marine Fisheries Resource Management and Conservation Workshop" was held in Myeik on August 3, 2025, at the Myeik Corporation Public Company Limited meeting hall, with the aim of promoting the sustainable use of marine fishery resources in the Tanintharyi Region. The event was attended by 67 participants, including the Tanintharyi Regional Government’s Chief Minister, ministers, and officials, as well as representatives from the Department of Fisheries, Myanmar Navy, Maritime Police, Myeik University, Myanmar Fisheries Federation, and local fishing communities. Over two days (August 3-4), 14 researchers presented 15 papers under the theme "The Future of Tanintharyi’s Marine Economy: Conservation, Collaboration, and Socio-Economic Development," addressing key challenges, solutions, and future strategies for the fisheries sector. The workshop’s outcomes will guide policy development and legal measures to ensure long-term growth and sustainability in marine fisheries.
